Required Documents

If your application is approved, we will require three (3) documents from you in order for you to vend at our festival:

  1. A valid City of Berkeley Temporary Food Facility permit
  2. A Certificate of Liability Insurance (needs to have “Foundation for the Future of Literature and Literacy DBA Bay Area Book Festival” )
  3. State of California Seller's Permit


AT THIS TIME, THESE DOCUMENTS ARE NOT REQUIRED. But if your application is approved, you will receive a form to process payment and upload all required documentation. City of Berkeley Health Permit Fees are not included in our Food Booth Space Fee and you will be able to pay this on your payment form if your application is approved.

Note: no equipment is provided. You must provide all of your own equipment. AT THIS TIME NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED. You will be asked to pay only if you are selected as a food vendor.

There is a $182 TFF fee in addition to the space fee. Food trucks with a valid City of Berkeley annual permit do not need a TFF permit.

Book Food Vendor Space

  • Food Booth Space (10x10 plus space for cooking; canopy not included): $450.00
  • Food Truck Space: $450.00
  • Food Booth Space for Desserts/Soft Drinks ONLY (10x10 space; canopy not included): $350.00


Optional Add-On:

  • City of Berkeley Temporary Food Facility permit: $182.00

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to space limitations, simply applying does not guarantee participation in our festival—we unfortunately need to decline a number of wonderful vendors.

Dan Alter

Dan Alter’s poems, reviews and translations have been published in journals including Field, Fourteen Hills, and Zyzzyva; his first collection My Little Book of Exiles won the 2022 Cowan Poetry Prize. A volume of translations Take a Breath, You’re Getting Excited, from the Hebrew of Yakir Ben-Moshe, was published by Ben Yehuda Press in September 2024, and Hills Full of Holes, a second collection of poems, by Fernwood Press in March 2025. He lives with his wife and daughter in Berkeley. He works at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at UC Berkeley.
