Keynote program – Saturday, October 3

  • How do I get access to the event?

Tickets cost $10 and are available on our website. Each ticket will cover one household, so if two or more members of your household would like to view the event you only need to purchase one ticket.

  • How do I view the event?

This prerecorded event will be presented in Zoom Webinar. You will receive an email the day before the event from [email protected] with a link and password to enter the session. If it has not appeared in your inbox by noon, make sure to check your spam/promotions folder, and then email [email protected] For more information on how to participate in Zoom Webinars, please refer to our Zoom help page.

  • Can I ask the speakers a question?

As this is a prerecorded event, audience members will not be able to ask the speakers questions. However, our Live Audience Chat will be open, so you can connect with fellow viewers and crowdsource answers to your questions.

Berkeley #UNBOUND – Sunday, October 4

  • How do I view?

It’s easy! Just sign up for a free account here, and you will be automatically redirected to the main portal. If you signed up prior to October 4, you can sign in on the main portal page. You will then be able to view members-only content including the YouTube broadcast with our Berkeley #UNBOUND programming.

  • How do I invite a friend to watch with me?

Anyone can make an account (it’s free!) on the sign-up page.

  • How do I change my password?

Sign in to your account using your current password. Under Manage Account, you should now have the option to change your password.

  • Can I watch a program that has already aired?

Yes! Simply move the circular icon on the video progress bar to the left to rewind the day’s programming. Also, we will release each program as its own YouTube video later this fall, so you will have an opportunity to share your favorite talks with your networks.

  • How do I watch the video in full screen mode?

Click the full screen icon in the lower righthand corner of the video (not the pane with Live Chat!). To exit full screen mode, click the icon or hit the Escape key.

  • There is no sound for the video feed.

Check to make sure your computer’s sound is on and porting to the correct speakers (did you leave headphones plugged in?). Then make sure that YouTube has sound turned on; if the audio icon on the lefthand side of the menu bar has a strikethrough line, click the icon to unmute. Some web browsers also allow you to mute and unmute sound in tabs, so check the right corner of your browser tab to make sure the audio icon does not have a strikethrough.

  • How do I chat? How do I hide the chat section?

You will need to sign in to your Google account. Please note that Bay Area Book Festival staff will monitor the chat, and will remove any remarks that they deem inappropriate.

To hide Live Chat, we recommend clicking the vertical ellipsis (⋮) in the upper right corner of the chat window and selecting “Popout chat.” You can then minimize the pop-up window; closing the window altogether will restore chat to the pane in the viewing portal.

  • My video feed seems to be lagging behind everyone else’s.

In your YouTube bar, check the “• LIVE” icon to the right of the audio icon. If the bullet point is gray, click the icon to skip ahead to the live broadcast.
