Dan Santat: A First Time For Everything

Sunday, May 7 | 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Young Readers Stage

  • Comics & Graphics
  • Outdoor

Dan Santat

Dan Santat is a bestselling, Caldecott-winning picture book author and illustrator, graphic novelist, screenwriter—and all-around gregarious and hilarious guy. Surely this multi-talented creator never went through an awkward age . . . right? Well, adolescence happens to the best of us, and, as Santat bravely recounts in his new graphic memoir A First Time for Everything, even he was not immune. Santat’s chronicle of his transformative middle-school study abroad has already racked up multiple starred reviews, but more importantly, his hilariously honest account offers a relatable guidebook for young people on the cusp of discovering their own whole new world. Dan Santat will be interviewed by Sharon McKellar, supervising teen librarian for the Oakland Public Library. Bring your questions too! Ages 10–14.
