From the emergence of COVID variants to the origins of Homo sapiens, the process of evolution underlies all biology. Yet only about half of American adults agree that humans developed from earlier species. In this session, Dr. Lisa White, Director of Education and Outreach at the UC Museum of Paleontology joins Elizabeth Shreeve (Out of the Blue) and Pamela S. Turner (How to Build a Human), authors of books about evolution for young readers, to celebrate evolutionary science. We’ll hear about science denialism and why evolutionary concepts are so often misunderstood, and we’ll gain new tools to combat misinformation about evolution and the nature of science. Ages 8+.
The bookstore partner for this session is Flashlight Books! Buy the books online at Bookshop.org or purchase them in person at the Festival. More information here.
