Every family harbors its secrets. And eventually, those secrets always come out. What happens afterwards? Legacies are revealed, and the possibility of healing—or at least understanding—glimmers. Monica West’s Revival Season earned comparisons to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie with its depiction of a traveling Baptist preacher’s daughter discovering her own healing powers. In Of Women and Salt, Gabriela Garcia limns a fascinating Cuban matrilineage through generations. And in Devi Laskar’s Circa, a violent accident upends the life of an American-Bengali woman navigating her family’s expectations. Come be reminded why blood is thicker (and stickier!) than water in this session moderated by memoirist Monica Wesolowska.
