Lightfast: An Immersive Sensory Journey with Live Cello, Words, and Images

Sunday, May 8 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • In-Person Only

The Marsh Berkeley - Theater

  • 2022

Step out of the busyness of daily life into a dreamy realm of music, image, light, and words that weave throughout like mist. Lightfast is a multimedia collaboration that explores the micro and macroverse of the natural world, and our human relation to it. The piece was created by four Bay Area artists, who after two years of meetings and conversation created a collaborative piece incorporating layers of sounds and music, narrative, and striking images in still and filmic projections. Lightfast’s creators are: visual artist Christel Dillbohner, associate of the Institute of Cultural Inquiry and co-creator with Danae Mattes of the installation CircumNavigators; cellist Monica Scott, member of piano/cello duo martha & monica and composer/improvisor collective sfSound; writer Sylvia Brownrigg, author most recently of Pages for Her and Invisible Countries; and visual artist Danae Mattes, whose other collaborations include work with Hope Mohr Dance and jazz musician Henry Threadgill.
