Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Joanna Macy will not be able to join us this year. All current ticket holders for this session have been refunded.

At 93 years old eco-philosopher Joanna Macy, PhD, is one of the world’s most influential and beloved teachers and activists for the environment, justice, and peace both outside and inside ourselves. She’s also a bestselling author of twelve books, including the classic World as Lover, World as Self, now updated in a thirtieth anniversary edition. Macy draws on deep ecology, systems theory, and resonances between contemporary science and Buddhist thought, particularly the concept of interconnectedness as a way to transform despair and apathy in the face of social and ecological crises. Krista Tippett, host of On Being, describes Macy as “an environmentalist before that term was on every tongue” who embodies “a singular clarity of vision about the totality of what it means to be human.” Join us for a rare opportunity to hear her in person!

Macy will be in conversation with Wendy Johnson, author of Gardening at the Dragon’s Gate and long-running columnist at Tricycle Magazine.

The book store partner for this session is Green Apple Books. Buy the books online on Bookshop.org or purchase them in person at the festival. More information here
