Alexandra Nickliss

Alexandra M. Nickliss is spreading the story of Californian feminist icon and philanthropist Phoebe Hearst. Her article “Phoebe Apperson Hearst’s ‘Gospel of Wealth,’ 1883-1901” in the Pacific Historical Review was honored as a runner-up for the Western History Association’s Jensen-Miller Prize. An instructor of history at the City College of San Francisco, she is the author of the new book “Phoebe Apperson Hearst: A Life of Power and Politics.”
