Cathryn Jakobson Ramin is an investigative journalist and the author of the two books: the New York Times bestseller ‘Carved in Sand: When Attention Fails and Memory Fades in Midlife’ and ‘Crooked: Outwitting the Back Pain Industry and Getting on the Road to Recovery.’ Her work has appeared the New York Times Magazine, More, O Magazine, New York, and newyorker.com. She is a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists, the National Association of Science Writers and a fellow of the MacDowell Colony, as well as the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. The mother of two adult children, she is married to the composer Ron Ramin and divides her time between Northern California and New York City.
