Charif Shanahan is the author of ‘Into Each Room We Enter without Knowing,’ winner of the 2015 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award. His poems and translations have appeared in numerous publications, including Baffler, Boston Review, Callaloo, Literary Hub, New Republic, Poetry International, Prairie Schooner, and A Public Space. A two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, he is the recipient of awards and fellowships from the Academy of American Poets, the Cave Canem Foundation, the Frost Place, the Fulbright Program/IIE, and Millay Colony for the Arts. He holds degrees in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and Dartmouth College and an MFA from New York University. He has taught creative writing, literature, and language at Dartmouth College, the Collegio di Milano (Italy), International House (Europe, North America), New York University, and Stanford University, where he is currently a Wallace Stegner Fellow in Poetry.
