Christie George

Christie George is a writer, producer, and activist who has been working at the intersection of media, technology, and social change for 25 years. She is the former President of New Media Ventures, where she oversaw investment in more than 80 progressive startups, and is a founding principal of The Togethering Lab. Christie produced The Emergency Was Curiosity — an illustrated book, exhibition, and event series about cultivating creative attention — and writes the newsletter Practice Practice. She holds degrees from Yale and Oxford and is a proud board member of the Indivisible Project. Christie lives on the Russian River with her partner and two children.

Dan Alter

Dan Alter’s poems, reviews and translations have been published in journals including Field, Fourteen Hills, and Zyzzyva; his first collection My Little Book of Exiles won the 2022 Cowan Poetry Prize. A volume of translations Take a Breath, You’re Getting Excited, from the Hebrew of Yakir Ben-Moshe, was published by Ben Yehuda Press in September 2024, and Hills Full of Holes, a second collection of poems, by Fernwood Press in March 2025. He lives with his wife and daughter in Berkeley. He works at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at UC Berkeley.
