David Harris

David Harris, 72, is an international journalist and author who has reported stories throughout the United States as well as in Central and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East for the past 47 years. He is a former contributing editor at The New York Times Magazine and at Rolling Stone and the author of nine nonfiction books and one novel. His work has covered a range of subjects from the invasion of Panama, the National Football League, the Kurdish diaspora, the history of broadcasting, megacities, Presidential elections, the Sixties, Wall Street takeovers, the Iranian revolution, and marijuana smugglers. During the Vietnam War, Harris was Stanford University Student Body President and a leader in the anti war movement, imprisoned for organizing civil disobedience against military conscription. He was later the Democratic Party candidate for Congress in California’s Silicon Valley.
