Gretchen Lemke-Santangelo is a professor of history at St. Mary’s College. She is the author of ‘Daughters of Aquarius: Women of the Sixties Counterculture,’ ‘Abiding Courage: African American Migrant Women in the East Bay Community,’ and coauthor of ‘Competing Visions: A History of California.’ Her research interests include black migration, feminist theory, race relations and ethnicity, and urban poverty. She received her PhD from Duke University.
