Jack Shoemaker

Jack Shoemaker began his literary career as a bookseller in 1965 in Santa Barbara. Over the next 50 years he has owned or managed a number of important literary bookshops and established several small fine presses. He is presently the editorial director of Counterpoint Press, a company he co-founded in 1994. In 2017 Counterpoint merged with Catapult Press, and Shoemaker continues to publish the work of several founding writers, including Wendell Berry, Gary Snyder, MFK Fisher, Evan Connell, Anne Lamott, Jane Vandenburgh, Guy Davenport, Red Pine, and Robert Aitken, as well as dozens of new writers.
