Janis Cooke Newman
Janis Cooke Newman is the author of Mary; Mrs. A Lincoln, which was USA Today’s Historical Novel of the Year, as well as an LA Times Book Prize Finalist. She is also the author of the historical novel, A Master Plan for Rescue, which was named one of the SF Chronicle’s Best Books of the Year. Her first book, The Russian Word for Snow, a memoir about adopting her son from a Moscow orphanage, has been translated into several languages.
Newman is the founder of LitCamp, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting writers and helping them find community, as well as Page Street, co-working spaces for writers.
