Karl Ove Knausgård (b 1968, Norway) is an author and publisher resident in London. He attended the Academy of Creative Writing in Bergen from 1988 to 1989, and has studied literature and art history at the University of Bergen. His debut novel, Out of the World (1998), became the first-ever first book to win the Critics Prize, while his next novel, A Time for Everything, was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize. The first volume in the autobiographical My Struggle series appeared in 2009. The six novels making up this work have been translated into 35 languages and have won Knausgård a number of prestigious awards, including the Swedish Academy’s Nordic Prize (2019), Die Welt’s Literature Prize (2015), and the Wall Street Journal’s Innovator Award for Literature (2015). He received the Prix Médicis essai for My Struggle 6 in the autumn of 2020.
