Kathleen A. Kelly, a fourth generation native of San Francisco, is the eldest granddaughter of Governor Pat Brown and the eldest niece of Governor Jerry Brown. She was a Brown delegate at the 1992 Democratic Convention. Kelly has served on the California Superior Court since 2003. She has devoted her career to public service and focused much of her work on juvenile justice. She currently presides over San Francisco’s Family Treatment Court, a court-supervised treatment program for families in the child welfare system. Kelly is a superior court judge since 2003. She has taught juvenile delinquency and dependency law as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco, School of Law and served as president of a nonprofit group that provides support services to children in the city’s juvenile court system. She traces her passion for juvenile justice to the influence of her grandfather, Pat Brown.
