Lara Bazelon

Lara Bazelon is an associate professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she directs the criminal defense and racial justice clinics. Previously, Lara was a deputy federal public defender for seven years in Los Angeles and the director of a small innocence project based at Loyola Law School. A contributing writer for Slate and Politico Magazine, Lara’s opinion pieces and essays have also been published in The New York Times, Washington Post, and the Atlantic Magazine. Her first book, “Rectify: The Power of Restorative Justice After Wrongful Conviction,” was published in 2018.
