Leslie Carol Roberts
Leslie Carol Roberts’s work is both critical and creative. In 2018 she co-founded the ECOPOESIS Project, a series of workshops and craft making focusing on positive hope around climate solutions. How We Hear Now, created during the pandemic in-lieu of in-person ECOPOESIS meet-ups, captures the sound of ecologies globally. Roberts, a professor on the faculty of the Architectural Ecologies Lab at California College of the Arts, also heads the MFA Writing program. She has received Fulbright and NEA grants and is the author of two books on ecologies, The Entire Earth and Sky: Views on Antarctica (2008, 2012; Nebraska); and Here Is Where I Walk: Episodes from a Life in the Forest (Nevada, 2019); as well as book chapters included in Performing Ice (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020), and Creative Activism (Cambridge, 2022). A journalist, she wrote the Eco-Thoughts column for The Believer and has been published by The Iowa Review, Ascent, the Sydney Morning Herald, and The Bellingham Review, among many others.
