Lisa D. Gray’s writing tackles issues of race and class while highlighting the intersections and spaces between identities and groups. She has taught at Mills College where she earned her MFA. She also holds a BA from Spelman College. She’s attended VONA, done a residency at the Vermont Studio Center and received the H.J. Joseph Award for distinguished writing from the San Francisco Foundation. The Mystery Writers of America awarded her an Edgar Award in 2018. She lives and writes in Oakland where she also runs a consultancy that focuses on building equity and closing opportunity gaps in sectors like education, health and housing.
