Niels Hooper

Niels Hooper, executive editor at UC Press since 2004, was previously general manager of Verso Books in New York. Driven by a desire to learn from historic struggles to overcome injustices, he has cultivated a list that constantly interrogates power and explores past possibilities for a more just society. Some highlights from his program include Rebecca Solnit’s atlas trilogy, Grace Lee Bogg’s “The Next American Revolution,” Joshua Bloom and Waldo Martin’s “Black Against Empire,” Laura Briggs’ “How All Politics Became Reproductive Politics,” Salim Tamari’s “The Great War and the Remaking of Palestine,” and Martin Duberman’s “Has the Gay Movement Failed?”
