Origin Stories (Bushwick Book Club Oakland)

What began as a driveway jam session in 2020 between two neighbors has since evolved into a collaborative partnership in music and in love. Origin Stories is a blend of two distinct styles – Lizzy Dutton’s folk and classical and Chanelle Ignant’s jazz and funk sensibilities. Their music criss-crosses genres and styles to create intricately rhythmic and melodic instrumental tunes reminiscent of their humble beginning. Their self-titled debut EP was released in October 2025.

Bushwick Book Club Oakland (BBCO) is a community event series co-produced by Claire Calderón, Nikki Bonsol, and Mia Pixley where Bay Area musicians from a wide range of genres compose and debut brand new original songs inspired by books.
