Peter Richardson

Peter Richardson teaches humanities and American studies at San Francisco State University and serves as senior literary advisor to the Bay Area Book Festival. He has written critically acclaimed books about the Grateful Dead, Ramparts magazine, and Carey McWilliams, the prolific California author and longtime editor of The Nation magazine. He received the National Entertainment Journalism Award for Online Criticism in 2013. Before that, he was an editor at the University of California Press, Poli Point Press, the Public Policy Institute of California, and Harper & Row.
