Rene Denfeld

Rene is the best-selling and award-winning author of the acclaimed novels “The Child Finder” and “The Enchanted.” She is recipient of a prestigious French Prix, an ALA and Carnegie listing, a Texas Lariat and was a finalist for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, among many other honors. “The Child Finder” has received much acclaim, including a starred Library Journal review, glowing NYTBR review, and an Indie Next pick. Rene’s third novel, “The Butterfly Girl,” is forthcoming in October. Rene was the chief investigator at a public defender’s office and has worked hundreds of cases, including exonerating innocents and working with trafficking victims. She was awarded the Break The Silence Award in Washington, DC in 2017 for her social justice work, and was named one of the heroic stories of the year by the New York Times. Rene lives in Portland, Oregon, where she is the happy mom of kids from foster care.
