Sandhya Dirks

Sandhya Dirks is the race and equity reporter at KQED Public Radio. She’s the host of American Suburb, a podcast about a changing America told through the lens of transforming suburbia, and the editor of KQED’s upcoming podcast, Truth Be Told, an advice show for, and by, people of color. She’s covered presidential politics in the swing state of Iowa and uncovered sexual harassment by a former mayor of San Diego. She’s won awards for her coverage of diversity in the East Bay. Sandhya has been known to bring her masala dabba with her on camping trips and vacations, leading to colorful — and delicious — messes. She believes in systems reporting, and that all stories are stories about power.
