Traci Sorell

Traci Sorell writes fiction and nonfiction for children featuring contemporary characters and compelling biographies. She is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation and lives in northeastern Oklahoma, where her tribe is located. Her books have won numerous awards and honors; most recently her picture book We Are Still Here! Native American Truths Everyone Should Know was an honor book for the 2022 American Indian Youth Literature Award. Her newest picture book is Powwow Day, called “a tender and inspiring view of Indigenous traditions and how celebrating them can lead to healing and redemption” in a School Library Journal starred review.
