Veronica Granillo

Veronica B. Granillo is a Senior Staff Attorney and serves as the Asylum & Removal Defense Lead and Citizenship Lead at East Bay Sanctuary Covenant. She began her work with EBSC in 2013 as a volunteer attorney, later spending nearly a decade in private practice before joining the organization full-time in 2021.

As an immigrant herself, Veronica brings both professional expertise and personal insight to her work, understanding firsthand the challenges many individuals face in pursuing legal status in the United States. Her practice focuses on a wide range of immigration matters, including affirmative and defensive asylum, U visas, lawful permanent residency, and naturalization. She is deeply committed to advocating for and guiding clients through complex legal processes with compassion and dedication.

Dan Alter

Dan Alter’s poems, reviews and translations have been published in journals including Field, Fourteen Hills, and Zyzzyva; his first collection My Little Book of Exiles won the 2022 Cowan Poetry Prize. A volume of translations Take a Breath, You’re Getting Excited, from the Hebrew of Yakir Ben-Moshe, was published by Ben Yehuda Press in September 2024, and Hills Full of Holes, a second collection of poems, by Fernwood Press in March 2025. He lives with his wife and daughter in Berkeley. He works at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at UC Berkeley.
