Winnie M. Li

Winnie M. Li is a writer, producer, and activist. She was selected as a George Mitchell Scholar and earned her M.A. in English at the National University of Ireland, Cork. As head of development at Ugly Duckling Films, she was involved in producing six award-winning films and two shorts, which were both nominated or shortlisted for Oscars. She is completing her Ph.D. at the London School of Economics on rape survivors and social media. A Harvard graduate from New Jersey, she is now based in London. Written while she was in the Creative & Life Writing M.A. Program at Goldsmiths, University of London, “Dark Chapter” is her first novel. It was voted winner of The Guardian’s Not The Booker Prize 2017 in the UK, nominated for the Edgar Award for Best First Novel, and will be translated into eight languages worldwide.
