J. Michael Martinez

Longlisted for the National Book Award, winner of the National Poetry Series, and a recipient of the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, J. Michael Martinez is the author of four collections of poetry, including Heredities (LSU Press), In the Garden of the Bridehouse (University of Arizona Press), and Museum of the Americas. His latest collection, Tarta Americana, was recently published and is a finalist for the California Book Award in Poetry.  His writings may be found in various publications including PBS, The Poetry Society of America’s New American Poets Series, New American Writing, the Boston Globe, and POETRY. An Assistant Professor of English and Comparative Literature at San Jose State University, Martinez lives in San Jose, CA.
