Carl Angel is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer whose work has been exhibited throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Hawai'i. A Filipino American who grew up in Honolulu, Carl lives in San Leandro, California. He is the illustrator of several books, including Willie Wins, Lakas and the Manilatown Fish, and Lakas and the Makibaka Hotel.

Nicole Chen writes books celebrating the diversity reflected in families all over the world. Nidhi Chanani

Nidhi Chanani is an award-winning author and illustrator of over a dozen books. Her graphic novels include Pashmina, Jukebox, and the Shark Princess series. She wrote and illustrated the picture book What Will My Story Be? She’s illustrated a number of picture books, including I Will Be Fierce, Strong, and Binny’s Diwali. Kerry Aradhya

Kerry Aradhya loves to puzzle over words and immerse herself in the creative process. She is the author of Erno Rubik and His Magic Cube and more than a dozen poems in award-winning children's magazines such as Babybug, Ladybug, and Highlights High Five. When not writing for children, Kerry works part-time as a science writer/editor and performs with a quirky modern dance ensemble. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family and their cute but naughty pooch named Sofie.

Nairobi Williese Barnes

Nairobi is a nineteen-year-old college student who's grown up in Oakland, CA her entire life. Her many accomplishments include winning the Superior and Impressive Writing Chops award at her high school, a published op-ed in Teen Vogue, and a published poem in 2016 book Accomplished, a collection of poems by The American Library of Poetry. Nairobi defines herself as a poet, artist, and activist. She has created educational videos and press releases about topics including voting rights, discrimination against Black women, and Black hair and how it defines her culture. As a woman who leads with her heart, her words have never steered her wrong and with every new journey she embarks on, a poem follows.

Alan Barillaro

Alan Barillaro is the Academy Award–winning writer and director of the animated short film Piper and has been supervising animator on many other popular theatrical releases, including The Incredibles, Incredibles 2, WALL-E, and Brave. Where the Water Takes Us is his debut novel. He has been honored with an ASIFA-Hollywood Award, an ICFF Award for Outstanding Career and was recognized by House Commons of Canada for his artistic and cultural contribution to the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Alan began his career in animation at sixteen years of age, graduated from Sheridan College in 1996, and spent twenty-five years at Pixar Animation Studios. Alan is currently Creative Director at PASSION PICTURES. He lives in Northern California with his wife and three children.

Vicky Fang is a product designer who spent five years designing kids' technology experiences for both Google and Intel, often to inspire and empower kids in coding and technology. She started writing to support the growing need for early coding education, particularly for girls and kids of color.
